We all knew that a MMPR post had to come sometime. Yeah back in the day when they were kewl
and we either wanted to be them, or fall in love and marry one of them (in other words, back when we were all six or seven years old), The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers were The Shit! So where are they now? And how many of them remember their days of being a brightly colored super hero with fondness?
To start off ... Kimberly Hart :First Pink Ranger
Played by the lovely Amy Jo Johnson. Kim stayed on for quite a while, good strong character but was still able to play the damsle in distress, Best known to many fangirls as "Tommy's sooouuulll maaate!!"...even though she broke up with him. She made a brief return to the role in the second PR movie along with the origional Red, Jason Lee Scott (Austin St John) as seen here.
(dignified, I know.)
And that was pretty much the last that was ever seen of AJJ on the Power Rangers.
Amy has actually been working since PR. And released some music!
She is engaged to the father of her baby girl and is curently working as Jules in abc's Flashpoint
. Billy Cranston: The First Blue Ranger
Played by ever-adorkable David Yost. Billy was a member of the power rangers for quite a while, even during a time when he wasn't an actual ranger. He was obviously the brains of the group (as if the steriotyped glasses didn't give you that notion) and he made being smart look hot after a few years of working on PR. Billy finally left to go advance his knowlage on Aquitar, an alien planet. But not before predicting that converse would come back in fasion.
He was the last to leave of the origional five to leave.
Acting-wise, David really didn;t do much more than little parts in a couple of films. He did however work as a producer for Temptation Island and was the director of production for the Sci Fi channel. As well as being manager of licensing for Pioneer Entertainment where he sold completed television shows and films to such networks as Showtime, Starz/Encore and Cartoon Network. His last acting job was in a play called Fallen Guardian Angels
about six actors with AIDS and how they deal with it, it raised money for The Childrens AIDS center and David alone raised $5000. He was also working more recently as a producer for the show You Are What You Eat.
Nice to see he's done so well...but his hairline is depressing me slightly.
The Next three rangers you may or may not remember, left all at one time...
and gave us these three
As you may have noticed, the asian girl playing the yellow ranger and the black guy playing the black ranger wasn't exactly politically correct, so when they had to recast, they fliped things around a bit.
So back to the trio that left,
(I soooo ship Trini/Jason right now)
The three of them did form a good friendship even after the show. Zack Taylor: The First Black Ranger
The 'Zach-man' was played by the man with the moves, Walter Jones. Zack was the comic relief, and definitly the best dancer of the group. He was the optamist of the group, to say in the least and added hiphop to his fights. When he left, it was for some peace confrence, sadly we never saw Zack make a re-appearance afterwards.
Although he never came back as Zack, Walter did many voiceovers for the show and continues to lend his voice to other projects. He doesn't act very much anymore, but he was rencently in an episode of CSI a few years ago. He's still bustin' moves though, but not hip hop. Nooo, in fact, our lovely Mr Jones is in fact, a salsa dancer
. That's hot. As for the PR, he did attend the Power Morphicon with Austin St John in 2007. Jason Lee Scott: The First Red Ranger and Leader (and the First Gold Ranger)
Austin St John was the perfect choise as the first leader of the MMPR, making him somewhat of a legend in PR history (tries not to sound too much like a total dork trying to get out whatever nostalgia she has pent up). He was the strong leader that they needed and was humble to step down when Tommy took over. When he left the PR with Trini and Zack, he still made a few more returns to the Power Rangers. First, the Turbo movie with AJJ, then as the Gold Ranger, and finally in the special edition episode, Forver Red.He was voted the greatest Red Ranger of all time.
Now...I know it's a bit of shocker to see such a big difference, but to be honest, I'd still cuddle with him. After The PR, Austin didn't really continue acting except for a really small part as a cop in a movie called Expose'. I know that there were rumors going around that he did gay porn, I can tell you now I looked at the pictures, it's definitly not him. Austin attended the Morphicon a couple of years ago and did a panel on being a red ranger, The Origins of Red. He is now working as Paramedic in Washington.
Trini Kwan: The First Yellow Ranger
Portrayed by amazing and rather stunning Thuy Trang. Trini was the voice or reason, patient, and dependant. She held fast and helped each of the rangers in some way or another. She left at the same time as Jason and Zack and never reappeared in the show again, although there had been plans for her and some of the origional rangers to appear on a special titled Cyberstrike, there wasn't anough money so the project was dropped. The episode "Circuit Unsure" of the PR Time Force series was dedicated to the actress.
Sadly, the beautiful actress/martial artist died in 2001 in a car crash. Her last movie rolse was in 1996 in The Crow. Members of the PR attended her funeral, among them were Amy Jo Johnson, Walter Jones, Austin St John and David Yost, although the only video confirmed members are Amy Jo (Kim/pink) and David Yost (Billy/Blue) and the member who said for sure that he was unable to attend was Jason David Frank (Tommy) because his brother had died around the same time. You can fine the video reporting her funeral here.
The Next batch,
Rocky DeSantos: Red Ranger and Blue Ranger
He was played by Steve Cardenas. The pretty boy came along to replace Jason as the Red Ranger than became the Blue ranger during the Zeo era when Tommy became the Red Ranger. He was funny enough and supportive. Most known for owning a bottomless pit as a stomach and still being able to maintain a great body.
It's not really clear what Steve was doing inbetween the time he left PR and up untill 2007 at the Morphicon. But he did have a blast seeing old members of the PR at the recent events.
Aisha Campbell: Yellow Ranger
Smart and sassy, played by Karan Ashley. She gave the show some much needed spunk and was brave as anything. She left to Africa at the end of her time for the Zeo Crystal. ..or something like that...
lol, i love my childhood
Karan didn't do much acting afterwards, that was untill 2005 when she co-wrote and stared in a movie called Devon's Ghost, which also stared the co-director and fellow PR actor Johnny Yong Bosch.
Which leads us to....
Adam Park: Black/Green Ranger
Dear, sweet Adam was played by Johnny Yong Bosch. Adam was the sweet, sensative and quite type. in other words...ADORABLE!!!! I can't quite place when his time on the show ended, but he did come back for the 15 yrs PR celebration.
Johnny has been doing lots of voiceovers since then and worked in action flicks like Broken Path. He is married and has a band called Eyeshine. All in all, doing rather well for himself, and also was in attendance at the Morphicon.
Katherine Hillard: Pink Ranger
Played by Catherine Sutherland. She came in during Kimberly's final episodes, giving it an actual transition phase for the kids watching. She was a dancer (ballett, not the other kind) and Tommy's rebound. Stayed on for the Zeo era.
Catherine left the acting buisness after PR. She now works as a fitness instructor and has two children.
And last, but certainly not least....
Tommy Oliver: First Green/White Ranger. Also Red/Black Ranger
Also known as the Ranger who wouldn't retire. No, seriously, this guy has left and come back so many times...Green ranger, then lost his powers, dated Kimberly, became the white ranger, became the red ranger, lost Kim, took a break, came back as the red ranger, took another break, comes back as a mentor to the current rangers and as the new black ranger. fewh, man he must be bored.
Ok sooo..besides still looking amazing, what else had JDF been up to? Well, in the acting industry, not much more than a couple of voice-overs and a re-appearence in PR-Dino Thunder. Jason has really outdone himself in the mariral arts, was awarded a spot in the hall of fame back in the nindies and since then has been awarded Master of the Year (lol, how awesome would that title be?), twice awarded in the Black Belt hall of fame and has a sixth degree black belt. He now owns four karati schools under "The rising sun", which has made it to the list of America's top ten karati schools list. I mean...Good God the list just goes on and on... The icing on the cake? He still loves PR, and loves that he was part of it. He's not very close o the cast members anymore, but he does stay in touch with some of them. A bit of a cocky bully at times to the other cast mates, it's true. But hey, it could be worse, right?
Wow. I'm beat. Excuse me while I try to go and get my life back now...and the feeling in my fingers. Catch y'all later!
